My Review on the Elephant Man
My review on the Elephant Man, is that at the beginning of the movie, it starts off as a visual concept when we see an elephant stampede and a woman being knocked down by an elephants swinging trunk. This character is later seen as a woman with "a beautiful face of angel,"who seems to be the Elephant Man's mother. The elephant man is introduced in a circus as a freak show owned by Bytes, a publicity seeking man. As the crowd goes wild to see him, Dr. Fredrick Treves seems to be near the station of Bytes but then sees the officers taking everyone out. Treves gets curious to see this man because he wants to get the chance to examine him. Treves meets up with Bytes and when Treves first saw the "Elephant Man," he cried. Throughout the film, Treves becomes friends with the Elephant Man who is later introduced as John Merrick, a 23 year old man, who was born with deformities around his body. The ending of the film becomes emotional because when Mr. Merrick tries to become a normal young person by sleeping with his head back avoiding his deformities. The ending lead to Mr. John Merrick's death. The overall film, had great emotion, and allowed its audience to get into the film and feels the same as Joh Merrick.
